Health, paid vacation, sick, and personal time POSITION OVERVIEW Jackson Mann Community Center's Adult Education program is looking for a full time Education and Career Advisor for the 2022-2023 school year.
The Advisor will work with ESOL and GED/HiSET students.
The hours are Monday through Thursday from 1:
00 to 9:
00 pm at the Jackson Mann Community Center and three hours of remote work on Friday.
Responsibilities Working with students to set up individual career and educational plans and making initial goals, with continual follow up meetings to monitor student progress.
Addressing stability services for students which include WIC, housing, healthcare, childcare, counseling, domestic violence, tax services, and anything that can help advance the economic and psychological stability of the student.
The ability to keep up to date with what is happening in the field in regard to DESE, WIOA, and workplace education.
Reporting any major obstacles to success for students to the Director.
Exploring new ties and deepening relationships with community colleges and job training programs Trained on LACES and responsible for data entry of the ABE program, including attendance Liaison with Director and teachers when needed in working with student issues and academic concerns.
Support outreach to the Allston/Brighton community about the program Assist with intake of new students Administer BEST Plus 2.
0, TABE CLAS-E or other assessments Create and update monthly attendance sheets for all classes Complete 35 hours of professional development per year Follow up with students that have left the program and file all required student documentation Help students create and revise a resume, assist with job applications and job interview practice as needed Teach an ESOL or GED class if a substitute is not available Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess the qualifications listed below.
The qualifications listed are considered minimum qualifications, unless noted otherwise.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling or similar degree.
Master's preferred.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills:
Must function independently and as a member of a team Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and Google suite Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese Ability to take initiative, prioritize work, and highly organized Experience with academic advising.
Excellent technology skills Understanding of the immigrant experience in the U.
S.
Ability to guide with resume writing, interviewing skills, and basic job preparation Serves as an advocate to students who need specific services CORI check required by Boston Center for Youth and Families Experience with LACES a plus Certified in BEST Plus 2.
0 or TABE CLAS-E a plus Excellent written and oral communication.

The Jackson Mann Community Center is a community-based non-profit service agency incorporated in 1976 to provide educational, cultural, social, recreational and community services to moderate and low-income residents of Allston-Brighton, ages 2.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
